Thousands of workers celebrate salary increase

In October of this year, a new law confirmed in California made thousands of workers earn more. For those who don’t know, the minimum wage for fast food workers will become $20 an hour.

In fact, with the new measure, fast food workers in California will have the highest guaranteed base salary in the sector. The state minimum wage for other workers is around $15 per hour.

The new law was signed by Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom on October 28th, with a crowd of workers and labor leaders at an event held in Los Angeles, to the delight of many.

HOW WILL THE NEW LAW WORK IN CALIFORNIA?

In this case, the new minimum wage for fast food workers will be applied to companies that have more than 60 units spread across the country, with the exception of chains that manufacture and sell their own business, such as Panera Bread itself, which sells its bread well known there.

Currently, California fast food workers earn an average of $16.60 per hour, or just over $34,000 per year, according to information released by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, but as of next April, that will change.
